Touche Amore - Parting the Sea Between Brightness and Me

When you’re chasing brightness / you lose concern with the damage done

On their second full-length album, LA punk group Touché Amoré are beginning to part ways with their screamo roots – their vocalist still belts it out, don’t get me wrong, but the melodies are more prominent, the vocals less mangled, the production taken up a notch. They’re getting to be a much bigger band than they were a couple years ago, and it shows. Much better too, at that.

I was a big fan of their debut …to the Beat of a Dead Horse, but Parting the Sea Between Brightness and Me brings the band to way greater heights. Everything is better executed, more professional, more focused and on-point. They’re at the top of their game right now, one of the biggest active names in their scene, and hopefully they’ve still got nowhere to go but up. Absolutely don’t miss out on these guys (and catch them live if you get a chance – they kill it, seriously).
