Pink Floyd

August 27, 2011

Pink Floyd

They started my journey into music. They defined a genre and an era, but with music that has both a style truly all its own and a universal timelessness. In their 31 year stretch as a band, they recorded more albums that I consider to be classics, absolutely essential parts of my collection, than you can count on two hands.

Everything that can be said about Pink Floyd has been said before, though. Sometimes nothing else needs to be said. All I really need to say is that this is the best band that has yet existed, and probably that ever will. There’s just no mistaking a legend like them.

Every album they recorded, studio and live. Not that this makes up their entire body of work, to be sure, but a very substantial part of it – and what I leave unposted is generally just curiosities that would amuse only the most diehard of fans (but if you are interested in more, I can certainly point you in the right direction). More importantly, just shout out if you love this fucking band!

One note: A lot of this music was recorded a long time ago, and a lot of different people have put their hands on it over the years, meaning if you look around you can find versions of these albums that are sometimes quite discernible from one another. For each album I’ve uploaded whichever master/remaster (whatever the case may be) that I consider to be superior.

Thank you so much for this post….. Love Pink Floyd, and I’ve had mediocre quality copies of a few albums for a while. This is me shouting that I love this band!
